The City of Casey is currently preparing a Rooming House Policy. Rooming Houses have increased in Casey in recent years due to the declining availability of private rental housing. The proposed Rooming House Policy will seek to develop objectives about preferred locations, sizes and design of rooming houses in Casey to be used when assessing planning permit applications for rooming houses. Council is also responsible for enforcing planning, building and health requirements for rooming houses and will be considering its statutory role regarding rooming houses across these disciplines.
In March 2012, Council endorsed the Rooming House Key Issues Paper that will inform the Rooming House Policy.
