When is a Film Permit required?

A Film Permit is required to film on public land and includes student projects, television programs, feature films, advertising, documentaries and music videos.

Do I need a film permit to film on private property?

Filming on private property does not require a film permit and permission should be obtained from the property owner.

However, a film permit is required if any vehicles, leads or any type of equipment that is being utilised is placed on one of the following locations:

  • roads
  • nature strips
  • footpaths

Do I need to apply for permit for still photography?

No permit is required for still photography.
