Heritage Grants 2012-2013
The City of Casey recognises the value of assisting property owners to maintain buildings, places and sites of significance to the cultural heritage of Casey.
As part of this recognition, Council has allocated up to $30,000 in 2012-13 to implement the Heritage Grant scheme. This scheme provides funds to eligible individuals, community groups or organisations to support their endeavours to maintain heritage assets.
Funding
Grants are provided for heritage work generally up to $2,500 per applicant and may include small or large projects. Funding may also be made available towards the preparation of a Conservation Management Plan for a heritage place.
Generally $ for $ funding contribution will be required from the applicant towards the project.
Occasional grants of up to $5,000 or more on a $ for $ basis may be offered for large projects offering substantial heritage benefit. Properties receiving the maximum grant may be requested to make the heritage place available for public access on one occasion. The majority of grants offered will not exceed $2,500.
All applications will be considered by Council’s Conservation Advisory Committee, which will make recommendations to Council regarding the allocation of grants.
Eligibility
Owners and occupiers of places listed in the Heritage Overlay of the Casey Planning Schemes are eligible to apply for funds.
Assessment Criteria
Each application will be evaluated against the following criteria:
- heritage significance of the site
- type and urgency of work; or the benefit of preparing a Conservation Management Plan
- community benefit
- compliance with the Burra Charter
- applicant’s financial contribution (generally 50% applicant contribution will be required)
