Community Event Sign
The City of Casey has constructed a Community Event Sign on the corner of Princes Highway and Magid Drive, Narre Warren

Its purpose is to assist in the promotion of Casey events to the community.
As part of the City of Casey’s commitment to supporting a broad range of community events, the Community Event Sign can be utilised by community and not-for-profit groups conducting events in the municipality. Following are the Guidelines.
The application form is available at the bottom of this page should your group wish to apply to use the Community Event Sign.
Applying for Display Space on the Community Event Sign
- Applications for the Community Event Sign will be advertised on the City of Casey website, and periodically in Casey Community News, Council’s fortnightly newspaper column.
- Applications for the use of display space on the Community Event Sign will be received on an ongoing basis.
- An application must be received by the City of Casey at least three months prior to the period in which a group wishes to display your message.
- To apply, a Community Event Sign Application Form will need to be completed. On the Application Form, some background information on the event, the organising body, the time period to display the message, and the banner wording is required.
- The design and manufacture of the banner will be undertaken by the City of Casey.
- The City of Casey will approve all banner wording. This will be done upon application.
- Applications will be approved according to Eligibility, Priority Groups and the Terms and Conditions.
- There will be a minimum of one community banner space available for each three (3) week display period.
- Only fully completed application forms will be considered.
Banner Display Time
- The banners will be rotated on a three-week cycle.
- Applicants can apply for only ONE three-week display period per event.
- The length of time that the banner carrying the message will be displayed will depend on the number of applicants for that period, and will be at the discretion of the City of Casey.
Installation of Banners
The City of Casey will be responsible for installing and removing the banners from the Community Event Sign, based on a pre-determined rotation calendar.
To ensure that adequate time is allowed for this process, applicants will need to ensure that all required information is included on the Application Form.
Banner Responsibility
Applicant group is responsible for:
- Providing accurate and complete information on the Application Form
- Ensuring application is lodged at least three months prior to the event date.
City of Casey is responsible for:
- Advising of success of application or otherwise
- Creation, production and storage of the banner
- Signwriting of each banner and colour backgrounds for each banner
- Installation and removal of the banner
- All costs associated with the production, installation and removal of the banner.
Banner Specifications
- The banner is to be made out of vinyl
- The banner is to be 1200mm x 3000mm in size
- The text will be white reversed out of a solid colour
- The banner will appear in a standardised way.
Eligibility
To be eligible to display your event message on the Community Event Sign, events must meet all of the following eligibility criteria:
- Completed application form must be received at least three months prior to the chosen display date.
- The event organising body must be based in the municipality or provide services to people within the municipality.
- Events must be open to all residents of the City.
- Applicants must hold current Public Liability Insurance sufficient for the proposed event.
- All events promoted on the Community Event Sign must occur within the City of Casey, except where priority group 5 is used.
- Trivia Nights and/or Auctions for fund-raising purposes are not classified as an event.
Priority Groups
The following are the different levels of priority, with 1 being the highest level of priority, and 5 being the lowest.
1. Council-initiated events
Assessed in order of:
- Events organised by the City of Casey
2. Council-supported events (supported through partnerships or direct funding)
Assessed in order of:
- Direct funding through the Event Grants or sponsorship
- Events supported in partnership with City of Casey
- Direct funding for events or exhibitions through the Arts and Cultural Initiative Grants, Recreation Access Grants, and Access and Equity Grants.
3. Community events
Assessed in order of events that:
- Have the potential to attract large crowds of participants
- Involve a wide range of local community groups eg. local arts, cultural and ethnic groups
- Have demonstrated the ability to host the event
- Offer something entirely new to City of Casey residents
- Are accessible to all residents.
4. Council messages
- Civic functions and openings/launches.
5. Events held outside the City of Casey
Terms and Conditions
The City of Casey reserves the right not to accept or promote any event that could involve the City of Casey in a controversial issue or expose Council to adverse criticism.
Should the applicant or any of its sponsors be regarded as inappropriate under the following, then the application for promotion will not be accepted:

An event that is at odds with local government policy directly or indirectly

An event that does not meet the community standards relating to "good taste"

Any products or services which are at odds with the City of Casey's duty of care, aims or objectives.
The City of Casey will not promote any form of the following products:

Cigarettes
-
Sex products
-
Prostitution
-
Illegal drugs
-
Gambling
-
Political parties
-
Religious organisations.
In all instances, the City of Casey reserves the right to not accept an application for space on the Community Event Sign.
The City of Casey will not be held responsible for any damage that occurs whilst the banner is on display on the Community Event Sign.
The City of Casey will not be held responsible for the conduct of the event.
The City of Casey will not be responsible for what is promoted, and when it is offered, as there may be signs promoting different events on the same day.
The City of Casey will develop a system of space allocation, based on the priority groups, and take into account previous access to the Community Event Sign.
The banner message, if accepted, may be complemented with a listing in the City of Casey 'Calendar of Community Events' and 'Casey Community News', Council's fortnightly newspaper column.
