About the Event Forums

The City of Casey aims to provide up to two FREE Event Forums each year for community Event Organisers. The next Forum will be held in June 2012. Please check this section of the website for updated information as it comes to hand.

The Forum’s purpose is to inform and increase awareness of Council Event related services and also provides an opportunity for Event Organisers in Casey to come together to network and discuss relevant and similar issues.

Given the importance of legislation that governs the delivery of events in public areas, it is important to educate Community Event Organisers in the area of compliance. Previous forums have attracted up to 100 attendees so keep an eye on the website and register quickly.

Past Event Forum topics have included:

An Event Management Training Manual providing templates for community Event Organisers can be found here:

Download Casey Events Management ManualCasey Events Management Manual

Documents such as marketing plans, event running order, budget templates, risk assessments and letters to residents can be found in the attached document. Please note that these are sample templates for your use only, Council does not require all the information included in this manual for your event to be compliant.

Benefits to Community Event Organisers attending Forums include:

This is a fantastic opportunity for Event Organisers to learn about the importance of thorough planning for events and to get some tips about the best methods to employ when getting an event off the ground. Events forums are FREE to the Casey community and should not be missed.

Please register your interest in future event forums by contacting the Events Unit at the City of Casey on events@casey.vic.gov.au.

Site Map Training for Community Event Organisers

When running an event a site map is extremely valuable for the organising committee as well as the general public. When mapping out an event you should consider the following:
Event details, entry and exit points, emergency access points, toilets, first aid, evacuation points, event staff/volunteer areas, temporary structures (stages, fencing, jumping castles, marquees etc), security, car parking, pedestrian flow, information booth, admission fee box, water etc.

Risk and Safety at Community Events

The Event Forum detailing how to organise a safe and successful event was held in Council Chambers on 22 June 2011, with special guest speaker Tracey Hull.

Keynote Speaker: Tracey Hull
Tracey Hull has over 20 years experience with a range of community, sport, art and special interest events, festivals and projects. Tracey conducts a range of event risk and safety training for volunteer and professional event organisers, and works with relevant authorities to provide practical risk and compliance information to event organisers. Tracey will provide community events organisers with practical tools to develop and implement risk and safety plans.

This free forum for community event organisers was aimed to increase awareness of risk and safety management at events. All participants were provided with templates and checklists to utilise for their own events. The forum was a great opportunity for participants to network and discuss relevant and similar issues.
