You can also download the calendar of collection dates listed in our Council's Recycling and Waste Guide.

How to put your bins out

  • Place your bins out for collection the night before their scheduled collection day.
  • Place your bin near the kerb on your nature strip with the bin handles facing away from the road.
  • Leave enough room between bins and other obstacles like street lights and cars.
  • Do not overfill the bins and ensure the lids are closed.
  • Bins that are too heavy cannot be emptied.
  • Bring your bins in after your scheduled collection. Don't leave them out between collection dates

Dead-end, court bowls and hammer-head streets

  • Dead-end streets: Your dead-end street may be collected as a one-sided collection.
  • Court bowls: Do not place your bin in the 'court bowl' end of your street.
  • Hammer-head streets: Please do not place your bin in the 'hammer-head' end of your street.

What happens to your waste

Recycle binYour rubbish will be driven to the recycling facility where incorrect materials are removed by hand. Everything else will go through machines to sort into similar product bundles. The sorted materials are bundled and sold to be made into new products.
Food and garden waste bin

Your food and garden waste are driven to the processing facility where bagged and incorrect materials are first removed by hand. Food and garden materials are then screened, commercially hot composted and turned into mulch and rich compost.
General waste bin

Your waste is driven to the landfill facility where the rubbish is emptied into a big hole in the ground. Your waste is not sorted. Landfills are built to be air and watertight so many things never break down, including paper, soft plastics and food.
Hard rubbish

Your hard rubbish is collected from your nature strip and driven to the transfer station facility where machinery will separate the rubbish that can be recycled. Items that can be reused by may be sole, while the remaining materials are shredded and used to fuel furnaces.
