SubscribeThe Casey Drug Action Strategy has been developed to address the key alcohol and other drug issues, and to minimise the harms caused by alcohol and other drugs to individuals and the community within the City of Casey. The Casey Drug Action Strategy forms an integral part of service planning for Casey and is imbedded within Casey Corporate Planning documents.
The Casey Drug Action Strategy is a collaborative document developed in partnership with key service providers. The success of implementing the strategy will be dependent on the ongoing collaboration and co-operation between the many service providers within the City of Casey who have worked in partnership to address the identified alcohol and other drug issues.
The principles on which the Casey Drug Action Strategy have been developed are:
- Harm minimisation - strategies that are aimed at minimising and reducing the harms to both individuals, families and the community, caused by alcohol and other drugs
- Prevention - recognising that local communities that exhibit a sense of belonging and care for its members are less likely to engage in alcohol and other drug risk taking behaviour
- Community safety - recognising that community safety is paramount and all efforts must be taken to reduce the illegal supply of alcohol and other drugs and to create safe environments
The Casey Drug Action Strategy identifies:
- The key areas for action and the corresponding objectives
- Strategies for addressing the identified alcohol and other drug issues in Casey
- Partnerships and responsibilities of organisations involved in the implementation of strategies
- Time lines for the implementation of each strategy, identified as short term, i.e. to be completed within the first year, and long term, i.e. to be completed within the three year period.
