Identity Verification Policy (146kb)

Purpose

Confirming an individual’s identity is necessary for the disclosure of information to a person or a third party, balanced with obligations to comply with the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 and other legal requirements governing the release or access to certain information.

This Policy is designed to provide guidance to Council officers on the minimum level of identity verification required for both incoming and outgoing communications when personal, health or financial information is being disclosed and/or confirmed either by email, mail, web-forms and in-person.
