Be a part of the first Casey Community Taskforce

Issued Monday 5 February 2018

The City of Casey is inviting residents of all ages and walks of life to join its first Community Taskforce.

The Community Taskforce will be made up of 20 community members that closely match the diversity of the City of Casey in relation to age, gender, language spoken at home, place of birth, employment status and location.

Establishing a Community Taskforce was one of the Casey People’s Panel 24 recommendations, which Council is now delivering on.

City of Casey Mayor Cr Geoff Ablett said this is a unique opportunity for residents to make a difference in our community.

“The purpose of the Community Taskforce will be to monitor the way in which we are implementing the City of Casey Vision and Council Plan 2017-21,” said the Mayor.

“In November 2017, we reconvened the People’s Panel to further discuss the elements that would be required to create a successful Community Taskforce.

“The Taskforce will meet three times during the year, whilst also having the opportunity to interact with Council through a dedicated online portal and provide input into key projects. At each meeting, Council officers will present the Taskforce with an update on the Council Plan and Vision progress, followed by question and discussion time.

“We listened to the Casey People’s Panel and the launch of the Community Taskforce clearly represents our commitment to act on each of the panel’s recommendations.”

The Community Taskforce model was adopted by Council at its meeting on 16 January 2018.

Membership to the Community Taskforce will be reviewed annually.

Expressions of interest for the Community Taskforce are being accepted until 5.00 pm on Friday 16 February 2018.
