An exciting new, integrated community facility is open and ready for business in Lynbrook - and everyone is invited to visit!
Residents, community groups, small or home-based local businesses and not-for-profit organisations are set to benefit from the $4.5million Lynbrook Community Centre.
City of Casey Mayor Cr Mick Morland said ‘the Lynbrook Community Centre offers a variety of modern spaces, incorporating smart and functional design available for use.
‘The centre features multiple meeting spaces, training rooms, consulting rooms, a large multi-purpose hall (which can be divided), a commercial kitchen and large outdoor deck for community use.
‘By co-locating community-based organisations, the centre will offer much needed services, programs and activities for the Lynbrook community’.
The Lynbrook Community Centre is now open to anyone interested in viewing the new facility. Council is running tours at 4.00 pm Monday to Friday and 1.00 pm on Saturday and Sunday, until Friday 29 May 2015.
Tours can also be booked by appointment at a time to suit you and your group. Please contact Council’s Customer Service on 9705 5200 to arrange a tour.
‘By coming along to a tour, people can check out all the spaces available and see how they can be used for a variety of programs, services, activities and even community events’ said Cr Morland.
‘Find out how you can get involved in a program or service and maybe even get inspired to start your own community-based initiative’.
Lynbrook Community Centre is available for use during the day, after hours and on the weekends.
Council staff will be onsite Mondays to Fridays from 9.00 am – 7.00 pm and on weekends from 10.00 am – 2.00 pm to provide information on the spaces, manage bookings and support those using the centre.
‘Extensive community consultation drove this project and was its secret to success’ said Cr Morland.
‘Council worked closely with Lynbrook residents and the community reference group to ensure the facility would complement the existing facilities, services and shopping precinct to make Lynbrook an even better place to live.
‘The result is an accessible, flexible facility that reflects it surrounding landscape and will meet the needs of the growing community well in to the future.
‘It will be a valuable facility that the community can be proud of’. The Lynbrook Community Centre will be officially opened by the Mayor, Cr Mick Morland at a community event on Saturday 30 May 2015.
‘I encourage everyone to come down on 30 May and enjoy free entertainment and a sausage sizzle to celebrate this much needed addition to the vibrant Lynbrook community’, said Cr Morland.
The centre is located at the corner of Lynbrook Boulevard and Harris Street.
