Celebrate Christmas with the City of Casey

Issued Wednesday 29 November 2017

Dig out the Christmas lights, tack up the tinsel and then get ready to join in the Christmas celebrations across the City of Casey this December.

City of Casey Mayor Cr Geoff Ablett will be launching the first Christmas at Bunjil Place on Friday 1 December, with Council’s beautiful new Christmas tree to be lit up for the first time, the life-size nativity scene unveiled and festivities to join in.

In addition to this, Council will also install Christmas themed banners and decorations across Casey and there will be festive events taking place at Bunjil Place and across the municipality throughout December.

Cr Ablett said he is excited that Council will celebrate its first Christmas at Bunjil Place.

“On behalf of Council, I would like to wish our residents a very Merry Christmas and a safe holiday season,” he said.

“With the opening of Bunjil Place, Casey now has a central place for our Christmas festivities and this precinct will be enlivened through the coming months with Christmas events, programs and activities for residents to join in.

“It’s a wonderful time of the year to live in the City of Casey, with a jam-packed calendar of events sure to keep the entire family busy this month.”

Following a Notice of Motion raised by Cr Rosalie Crestani in December last year, Council resolved to erect a life size nativity scene as well as a Christmas tree at Bunjil Place.

Cr Crestani said she will be thrilled to see the Christmas decorations now installed at Bunjil Place.

“I am delighted that Bunjil Place is now host to this wonderful nativity scene, which helps us to celebrate and recognise the true meaning of Christmas,” she said.

“Make sure you come along to see this beautiful element which will be alongside the Christmas tree throughout December.”

Bunjil Place to host month of Christmas Cheer

For the first time ever, Bunjil Place is decking its halls and setting the scene for a magical Christmas with all the trimmings this December.

Bunjil Place will be getting festive with enough entertainment and activity taking place throughout the month to make any Grinch think twice!

We’ll be kicking off the celebrations with the first Christmas party of the season this Friday night; our Very Merry Block Party will include food, music from DJ Mikey Cahill, activities and cheeky brews at the pop-up bar in the Plaza from 5.00 pm.

The Casey Choir will join the party from just after 7.00 pm singing Christmas carols before the Mayor lights our tree (which you really have to see to believe) at 7.30 pm.

Check in for all that is jolly about this special time of year at one or more of our events taking place throughout the month from our three-part, Friday night Very Merry Block Party series to comedy with Dave O’Neil as well as arty activities, festive flicks and the beginning of our summer of sport on the big screen!
