The new and improved Bridgewater Family and Community Centre in Berwick is open for business after undergoing a $3m redevelopment.

City of Casey Mayor Cr Sam Aziz joined State Member for Narre Warren South Judith Couacaud Graley at the centre on Thursday 2 March to tour the revitalised facility.

The project, jointly funded by Council ($1.6m) and the State Government ($1.4m) through the Growing Suburbs Fund, has delivered;

  • An extension to the existing facility to create an additional kindergarten room;
  • Improvement of the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) consult rooms and waiting area;
  • The upgrade of large and small multi-purpose intergenerational community meeting rooms;
  • A staffed reception area to support community, MCH clients and kindergarten families.

Cr Aziz said Council was proud to deliver a revitalised facility for local families and thanked the State Government for their contribution towards this project.

“This facility now aligns with Council’s preferred model of integrated family and community centres, bringing together a range of essential services under one roof,” Cr Aziz said.

“This major redevelopment gives the centre increased capacity to accommodate additional kindergarten spaces and maternal and child health clients, helping to address the ongoing and increasing demand for these services in this area.

“The provision of multi-purpose community spaces provides opportunities for people of all ages to connect and come together.

“This project demonstrates our commitment to not only delivering new infrastructure for growing communities, but also improving existing facilities for our established areas.”
