Local History Societies
Local History Societies have a depth of local knowledge and resources. They may know of old and previous residents from the area. They often have photo collections, local newspaper collections and have local history books for sale.
These groups are run by volunteers. This is a listing of some of the bigger groups in this region.

Berwick Pakenham Historical Society
Covers the old Shire of Berwick, (Narre Warren, Berwick, Beaconsfield, Officer, Pakenham, Nar Nar Goon, Tynong, Garfield and Bunyip). Museum located at the Corner of Princes Highway and Main Street in Pakenham.

Museum located in old Infant Welfare Centre, Westernport Road, Lang Lang

Cranbourne Shire Historical Society
Covers the Old Shire of Cranbourne (Cranbourne, Tooradin, Warneet, etc).
Museum located at the Fisherman’s Cottage Museum, 13 Mickle Street, Tooradin. Generally open weekends 10.30 am - 4 pm.

Koo-Wee-Rup Swamp Historical Society
Covers the Koo-Wee-Rup Swamp area – Koo-Wee-Rup, Dalmore, Cardinia, Bayles, Cora Lynn, Catani, Yannathan. Museum located at 325 Rossiter Road (corner Henry Street) Koo-Wee-Rup.

Emerald Museum and Nobelius Heritage Park
Crichton Road, Emerald.
The Museum is located on the site of the Nobelius Nursery where exotic trees, including original Nobelius plantings, are still thriving.
Museum open Wednesdays 10 am – 12 pm and Sundays 1.30 pm -4 pm
