Casey Teenage School Holiday Program – Summer 2018

The Casey Teenage School Holiday Program is for teenagers aged 10 – 17 years and offers fun, age-appropriate activities at reasonable prices. The upcoming Teenage School Holiday Program will run from Monday 15 January – Thursday 25 January 2018, with a range of activities including Australian Open Tennis, Cake Decorating, Kayaking and Go Karting. Transportation to and from the program is available at designated pick up and drop off points throughout Cranbourne, Narre Warren, Hampton Park, Endeavour Hills and Doveton. Casey in Colour - Run for YOUth is BACK in BLACK

Head on down to Cranbourne Turf Club for a fantastic afternoon filled with colour, fun games, food trucks and free activities. People of all ages and abilities are invited to participate in a 1.5 km or 3 km run.

Fresh Words Writing Competition

Unleash the storyteller in you and enter the Fresh Words Young Writers Competition! If you are a budding author, journalist or song writer, embrace this opportunity to put your imagination on paper and win some great prizes!

Entry is open to Casey’s young people in Grade 5 – Year 12 in the following categories:

  • Creative Writing
    (maximum 750 words)
  • Poetry/Lyrics
    (maximum one page)
  • English as an additional language
    (maximum 750 words)

FReeZA Battle of the Sounds 2017

 Congratulations to all the acts that performed at the 2017 FReeZA Battle of the Sounds. The winning acts were:

  • First place – Represent City of Casey at the Regional Finals, and a mentored recording session with Pony Music:
    Social on the Veranda
  • Second place – Logo design by SA Creative Design and Media:
    Zac Gulavin and the Monkey Bunz
  • Third place – 4 x 3 hour rehearsal sessions at The Factory Rehearsal Centre for the Arts
    Mental Thunder
  • People’s choice – Milk! Records, Pieater, Remote Control Records and Grill’d prize pack:

  • Band that brought the most people – cash prize;

Schools on Stage

Schools on Stage is a musical extravaganza which sees local schools put their talents to the test! This year’s show was held on Thursday 7 September in front of a sold out audience at Hillcrest Theatre and featured more than 300 young performers, with the backing of a live orchestra.

Schools on Stage celebrates the performing arts talents of Casey’s young people, whilst also encouraging them to take part in extra-curricular activities to strengthen their connection to the school community, make new friends and build important skills.

Schools on Stage welcomed back Tim Campbell to host the event for his seventh consecutive year. Tim Campbell entertained the audience singing ‘Shout’ while being joined by students from Alkira Secondary College who choreographed an additional piece for this special performance.

The awards went to the following schools and performers:

  • First Place Premier Division - St Francis Xavier College “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast"
  • First Place Open Division - Alkira Secondary College “Singin’ in the Rain”
  • Best Song - Kambrya College “Shrek The Musical Jr” – “I Know It's Today”
  • Best Individual Performance - Taylah Rzepski from St Francis Xavier College “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast”
  • Music Theatre International Australasia Award for Audience Choice – Kambrya College “Shrek the Musical Jr”
  • Best Team Work - Maranatha Christian School “Disney’s The Lion King Jr”

Due to the largest number of schools and quality of performances an Honourable Mention Award was awarded to Hallam Senior College “Chicago”.
