EmailWhen undertaking building works on your property it is important that you engage a qualified builder to do the work. Property owners are responsible for works undertaken on their property and by employing a qualified builder, you can avoid any unnecessary extra costs associated with illegal work.
If you're considering carrying out any building works, seek advice from a Registered Building Surveyor or contact the Building Department at Council who can provide you with advice.
Ensure that when you engage a builder they satisfactorily meet the following criteria:

Insured

Members of the HIA, MBA or the like

Qualified

Ask for referrals from people they have done work for
Next time you undertake building work on your property, whether it be a simple structure such as a carport, garage or veranda or more substantial work like a dwelling addition, make sure you appoint a qualified builder to do the work.
