Where is it?

The Cranbourne North growth area is bounded by Glasscocks Road to the north, Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road to the west, Thompsons Road to the south and Berwick-Cranbourne Road to the east.

Planning and development of land in Cranbourne North is being progressed in four stages.  The Cranbourne North Precinct Map (2mb) gives a view of the four stage areas.

What is the vision?

Cranbourne North Stage 1 Development Plan

The Cranbourne North Stage 1 Development Plan aims to build a community upon the principles of sustainability, economic vibrancy and social cohesion and the strengths and assets of the existing and planned Cranbourne North community.  Innovative and site responsive approaches to development will help achieve this vision.

The Future Urban Structure Plan (518kb) demonstrates how the Cranbourne North Stage 1 precinct will be developed over time.  It identifies land set aside for a variety of uses, including residential, employment, schools and community facilities.

Cranbourne  North Stage 2 Precinct Structure Plan

Cranbourne North Stage 2 Precinct Structure Plan will build upon the strengths and assets of the existing and planned Cranbourne North community, and will complement the vision for Stage 1 of a community built upon the principles of sustainability, economic vibrancy and social cohesion articulated in the Stage 1 Development Plan.

Cranbourne North Service Business Precinct Development Plan

The Cranbourne North Service Business Precinct is recognised as a key employment precinct for the City of Casey and wider State of Victoria.

This Development Plan will guide future employment use and development whilst respecting the amenity of nearby residential areas through a detailed, strategically driven development framework.  The objective  of the plan is to facilitate high quality development that supports local jobs for local people whilst protecting residential amenity.

Casey Central Town Centre

The Casey Central Town Centre will be located in the north-west corner of the Cranbourne North area at the corner of Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road and Glasscocks Road.

The vision for the Casey Central Town Centre is to provide a planned new activity centre, conceived as a high quality urban environment, incorporating diversified living, working and leisure precincts focused around a 5 hectare town centre park with public transport and open space linkages to the wider district and residential environment.

The Metropolitan Planning Authority (MPA) is currently in the process of preparing the Casey Central Town Centre Precinct Structure Plan.

How will infrastructure be funded?

Development Contribution Plans (DCP) apply to the Cranbourne North Stage 1 and Stage 2 precinct areas.  The plans have been developed to facilitate the provision of some of the key services and facilities required to support the new community.  Specifically, the DCPs:

  • Identify the key infrastructure and services necessary to support a quality ad affordable lifestyle for future residents, visitors and workers to the area.
  • Establish a framework for developers and the community to make financial contributions towards the cost of the key infrastructure and services identified to ensure that the cost is shared equitably between the various developers and the wider community.
