Growth area precincts in Casey

The City of Casey is one of the fastest growing regions in Australia. With over 356,500 current residents and an expected population of 549,190 by 2041, Council must plan for the city’s future liveability.

The Victorian Planning Authority (VPA) prepares Precinct Structure Plans (PSP) for Melbourne's growth areas. A PSP is the framework for the transition of land from mostly rural and agricultural uses to intensified urban uses. This includes residential and employment land. PSPs also guide key infrastructure projects. This includes transport, recreation, community facilities and schools.

There are 16 Precinct Structure Plan areas in the City of Casey:

Council has developed an advocacy plan called the Vision for Remaining Growth Areas. The Vision promotes future planning and development of Casey’s remaining growth areas. It supports Council’s advocacy to the VPA. It also guides engagement with government agencies, developers and other stakeholders during the preparation and implementation of PSPs.

The Vision encourages innovative planning approaches that respond to community needs. The goal is to help create Australia’s most liveable city.
