Casey's Growth Areas

The City of Casey is one of Australia's fastest growing regions.  Casey is the third fastest growing municipality in Victoria, behind Wyndham and Whittlesea and the eighth fastest growing municipality in Australia.

The City of Casey already has the most residents of any municipality in Victoria, and its population is forecast to grow from approximately 288,000 in 2015 to 492,497 by 2041.  Currently, on average 7,300 people move to Casey each year and it is expected this will increase to 8,700 per year by 2031.

How can we manage this growth?

The City of Casey and the Victorian Planning Authority are preparing Precinct Structure Plans and Development Contributions Plans to manage the long term growth of the municipality.

Precinct Structure Plans

Precinct Structure Plans (PSPs) are master plans for new communities which usually cater for between 10,000 and 30,000 people.  They set out the vision for how land should be developed and identify the projects required to ensure a quality and affordable lifestyle for future communities.  Specifically, Precinct Structure Plans plan for roads, town centres, parks, housing, employment, public transport routes, sport facilities and community facilities among others.

Development Contributions Plans

Development Contributions Plans (DCPs) facilitate the provision of some of the key services and infrastructure required to support the new communities.  Specifically, they identify and provide costings for the projects and establish equitable frameworks for developers and the future communities to make financial contributions towards the delivery of these projects.

Where is the growth occurring?

Areas across Cranbourne, Berwick and Clyde are currently experiencing major developments with various housing estates, employment areas and town centres.
