Best Start is a community project that aims to improve the health, development, learning and wellbeing of children in the City of Casey. The project focuses on children from pregnancy through to 8 years of age. To achieve this aim Best Start will endeavour to:
- Improve access to children and family support services, health services and early education services
- Enhance families, and carers, enjoyment in parenting

Encourage the community to become more child and family-friendly
Best Start is auspiced by State Government through the Department of Human Services and the Department of Education and Training. The City of Casey coordinates the project in partnership with service providers, parents and representatives from within the community interested in the wellbeing of children.
