Nominations for the 2013 Australia Day Study Tour are now open.
Australia Day Study Tour Awards are presented to young people in Year 11 or equivalent age (16 years of age in the year of the award) who have been nominated by their school or employer for a demonstrated interest in, and a reasonable understanding of, politics and community events and issues.
This award is designed to give young people the opportunity to explore the political and administrative systems of our Nation. It is not awarded on the basis of academic excellence.
The nominated young people are short listed for interviews, which are conducted by a community panel. Up to 10 young people are then selected for an Australia Day Study Tour Award. Young people interested in taking part in the tour are encouraged to contact the Coordinator Youth Programs.
The Study Tour comprises of three stages:
A half day and evening session at Local Government, which includes an introduction to City of Casey and dinner with the Councillors.
A full day visit to the State Government including a meeting with local State Members of Parliament.
A four-day visit to the Federal Government in Canberra which includes a day at Parliament House, meeting with Federal Members of Parliament, visits to the High Court, National Gallery and other places of interest.
Nominations are now open for the 2013 Australia Day Study Tour. A nomination form and application form must be completed to register. Forms can be downloaded below
Nominations close 4.00 pm on Friday 23 November 2012 (interviews for shortlisted applicants will be conducted on Wednesday 5 December 2012).
