Liberty Swings in the City of Casey

The City of Casey is the first municipality in Melbourne’s South East region to feature a Liberty Swing, an innovative piece of playground equipment that accommodates the needs of people with mobility difficulties.

Liberty Swing Locations:

  • Ray Bastin Reserve in Narre Warren
  • Casey Fields Regional Playground in Cranbourne East

The Liberty Swing enables people in wheelchairs to enjoy the fun of swings, experience the sensation of above-ground motion, and be part of the action in an outdoor playground environment.

The Liberty Swing has a number of special features that make it both safe and simple to use, including an access ramp for the chair, ample room for a carer to help mobilise the swing during use, a wheel locking mechanism and full instructions on how to attach any type of chair.

The Liberty Swing can only be accessed by a special key.  These keys open any Liberty Swing in Australia and are available for loan for an unconditional length of time, by contacting any of Council’s Customer Service Centres.  On weekends the key is available at the Casey RACE in Cranbourne East.
