Hire types

  • Casual Hire - All private birthday parties, engagement parties, family functions.
  • Community Group Hire -  A not-for-profit group that provides a service or activity to the local community.
  • Business Hire - An individual or company for which a cost is charged for participation.

Function Room

The largest room onsite and the most versatile of all available rooms it can be used for business or private functions, events, birthday parties and wedding receptions. The space can be set for formal or informal occasions in a variety of layouts. The room has access to internal toilet facilities and a large commercial catering kitchen, stage and portable dance floor.

Accommodates: 110 seated - 150 cocktail
Casual Hire:  $685 for 6 hours ($135 per extra hour)
Community Group Hire: $30 per hour, or $188 for 8 hours
Business Hire: $45 per hour, or $345 for 8 hours
Bond:  $350 or $500 depending on the risk level of the function.

Chapel

The Chapel (formerly St Luke’s Church in Mount Waverley) is situated close to the playground and is a great area for your special occasion, meetings, classes or workshops and provides an option for wet weather wedding ceremonies. The area is close to toilets and has a kitchenette fitted including a hot water unit, sink, bar fridge and microwave.

Accommodates: 60 seated - 80 cocktail
Casual Hire:  $205 for 4 hours ($ 55 per extra hour)
Community Group Hire: $30 per hour, or $188 for 8 hours
Business Hire: $45 per hour, or $345 for 8 hours
Bond:  $350 or $500 depending on the risk level of the function.

Old Shop

The Old Saddlers Shop is an ideal multi-purpose room for special occasions, parties, meetings, classes and workshops. This area is close to the playground, toilets and BBQ’s area and has a kitchenette fitted including a large fridge, good preparation area, oven, stove top, microwave and urn.

Accommodates: 40 seated - 50 cocktail
Casual Hire:  $205 for 4 hours ($ 55 per extra hour)
Community Group Hire: $30 per hour, or $188 for 8 hours
Business Hire: $45 per hour, or $345 for 8 hours
Bond:  $350 or $500 depending on the risk level of the function.

Upper and Lower Gallery (Old Cheese Factory)

The historic two storey building built in the 1860’s is set amongst the homestead gardens and close to the café and wash house. Each level or the whole building can be used for small group gatherings, private functions, wedding ceremonies and art exhibitions. For art exhibitions, the lower gallery (first floor) has a professional display tracking system fitted to hang artwork. The upper gallery (second floor) has more hanging space for artwork depending upon size. Utilities such as an urn and pie warmer can be included in this room also.

Accommodates: 20 - 40 people
Casual Hire:  $205 for 4 hours ($ 55 per extra hour)
Community Group Hire: $30 per hour, or $188 for 8 hours
Business Hire: $45 per hour, or $345 for 8 hours

Arts Studio  (Pottery Studio)

The Arts Studio is a great space for a variety of functions and is in close proximity to the middle paddock, the secret garden and playground. The area is suitable for small group gatherings, private functions and space for arts programs. Utilities include a kitchenette fitted including a hot water unit, sink, bar fridge and microwave. The room also has wash up space for arts activities (including painting, pottery, sand art or mosaics).

Accommodates: 20 - 50 people
Casual Hire:  $205 for 4 hours ($ 55 per extra hour)
Community Group Hire: $30 per hour, or $188 for 8 hours
Business Hire: $45 per hour, or $345 for 8 hours
Bond:  $350 or $500 depending on the risk level of the function.

Outdoor Gazebo - BBQ 1

The outdoor gazebo with BBQ1 can be reserved for all types of functions and activities. Sheltered by trees, closed-off from roads and located close to the playground, this is an ideal area for friends, family and children to enjoy the outdoors, run around and play safely. In the dryer months, this area can be booked for larger functions and with the inclusion of outdoor tables and chairs it is a beautiful area for any occasion.

Accommodates: 20 - 30 people
Hire: $135 for 4 hours ($40 per extra hour)

Undercover - BBQ 2

This double plate electric BBQ can be hired in conjunction with room bookings or on its own.  The BBQ is positioned conveniently behind the Old Shop and Chapel buildings and can be used for a variety of purposes.
Shaded by the elm trees, BBQ2 includes one outdoor table and ten outdoor chairs, space for small marquees, jumping castles, offers accessible power options and is just around the corner from the large playground.

Accommodates: 10 -20 people
Hire: $80 for 4 hours or $50 when attached to a room booking.

Middle Paddock

The large grassed middle paddock is positioned in the heart of the site.  It is the central point to all surrounding buildings and can be used for a variety of purposes. It is suitable for all sized marquees and Tipi’s, has accessible power from nearby buildings and is frequently used for engagement parties, wedding receptions, gala dinners, sporting activities and much more.

Casual Hire: $450 for 4 hours

Administration Kitchen

This spacious kitchen is equipped with a large size fridge and top freezer, induction stove top, oven, hot water unit, microwave, dishwasher, sink, separate hand washing sink and spacious preparation areas. It is located within the administration building which is in close proximity to the other areas onsite.  Both caterers and casual hirers can use this kitchen with ease.

Hire: $40 per hour when attached to any other booking onsite.

Bookings and supplier list

To make a booking for the above rooms and facilities, please contact the Old Cheese Factory on 03 9702 1919 to check the availability of your preferred date and time.  A non-refundable deposit of 25% is required to make a booking and a completed Booking Form (224kb) must be returned within 3 business days to confirm the booking. Booking forms can be e-mailed, returned to the office in person or put in the post to:
